Overall Goal/Philosophy Behind Page

I've always been someone who doesn't really have much time to appreciate much, I take a lot of things for granted like a lot of people. Sometimes I don't even get a minute to put my thoughts together with my mind always racing to the new thing, which isn't wrong to want. I, too, also get caught up in the new and shiny toy on store shelves, but I think it's also important to highlight the things I already have and improve my life in small ways. Sure, it's not always the coolest thing in the world, but there's something brilliant about a simple object that just works. Giving myself 5 mins to do just that helps me find solace in my reality, no matter how bleak it might seem in the moment.

There's also another reason why I made this page, something a little less personal. The rapid rise of technological utopianism and hypercapitalism concerns me on a deeper level. The whole idea of our society's problems being completely solved by inventing new technologies and trying to buy our way out of it, is a very dystopian mindset. There's nothing wrong about being hopeful about the future, wanting to improve our lives. But to disregard present reality and cling onto the promise of a distant future is bogus. What we do today will always determine what happens tomorrow. To reinvent the wheel in a new shape for the sake of making something "revolutionary", shows a considerable lack of consideration of why things work the way they do. Sometimes problems don't have to be solved by a complex and flashy machine. Sometimes the answers we seek are from the things already discovered.

Hair brush

I don't think I'll ever be able to live without it. It keeps your hair tidy and takes out the tangled strands you wouldn't have otherwise taken off with your hands alone. I would imagine it was also a good way to take out any bugs (something like lice) out of your hair in the days where humans didn't have much to work with. The brush also makes it possible to move your hair in a certain place whenever you have a specific style in mind. I probably couldn't count the times where I felt so put together just by brushing my hair.

Mug

The amount of times I have used one is countless. When was the last time you ever drank anything without a mug? The only option you would have had was drinking something straight from your lips by leaning in or using your hands. Sure, it would be viable with something cold or lukewarm, but what if it was something hot? You would have definitely burned yourself trying. I don't exactly know when it was first made, but I would imagine it would have existed in some form for centuries. The best part is the handle. No longer would you need to grip the actual mug and burn yourself, you can just use the handle. The chances of you dropping the entire thing is lot less likely with that added grip.
