My body swims in a cold and vast ocean that stretches across the horizon.

Its waves crash against the sharp rocks ahead.

Soft and peaceful land is nothing more than a dream that is forever out my reach.

I had become numb to the feeling of sadness.

My tears are nothing more than a drop in the waves that keep me in its merciless grip.

My mind flickers to a distant future, a fantasy that has eroded away.

I had long given up my quest to that promised land.

There a soldier sits, waiting day and night on that shore for my impossible return.

Tell me, o dear soldier.

How does one stay strong amongst the unforgiving waters?

How does one stand, despite the broken promise of home?
