Poem Twenty Two (09/11/2025)
The walls cover the sun today
The dogs are left astray
Sniffing down the cats chasing the rats
Down by Landfill bay
The bankrupt creatures scamper about
To their wheel working for a tuppence to feed those tiny mouths
The wages grow meager
While the cats laze about the streets and linger
Their minds concerned of the silk sheets they lay
While the rats are dying of hunger, overworked and underpaid
The dogs continue to bow down to the kitty overlords
Finding new ways to sharpen their swords
Blades to discipline the rats revolting from their chains
And guard their uncaring masters’ miserable reign
